I’ve had a brief discussion with Dave Wagner about a great basketball athlete from the Milbank High School class of 1973. Mark Anderson was first team all-state his graduating year, 1973. I’ll attempt to find more statistics from his career at MHS and share with the group. He was the son of a Methodist pastor. In 1967 the Bulldogs were State A champions with 3 of the starters being sons of pastors.
Unfortunately, in Mark’s senior year, MHS’s starting center, Burt Porter, blew out his knee about 2 weeks before the sectionals in Sisseton. Adding to their misfortunes, point guard Chris Vander Vort suffered a nagging knee injury early in the year. As a healthy team, Milbank would have fared well in the sectionals and state tournament.
