Robin (Anderson) Thormodsgaard

Clear Lake Cardinals – 1980

Robin Anderson played basically guard while in high school. She was a short, but quick left-hander who was a great scorer and good rebounder. She was great on defense with quick hands and could pass the ball well. While in high school the Clear Lake girls team record was 91-8. Robin played in four state “B” tournaments from 1976-1979. She was first team All-State four consecutive years as well as a High School All-American from 1978-1980. Robin scored 2332 points in her four year career averaging 24 points per game while shooting 51% from the field. Her senior year she led the team in scoring, assists, steals and was second in rebounds. An excellent student, she also graduated with a 3.7 grade point average.

Robin took her basketball talents to the University of Iowa where she compiled 1046 points for her college career. She scored 326 points her freshman year and was voted MVP in the 1983-1985 seasons. Robin will tell you to this day that Basketball has played such an important part in her life and much of her success comes from the game she loved. She has etched herself a place in South Dakota Basketball History. Robin Anderson Thormodsgaard will be inducted into the South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame on 27 March 2010.
